Process temperature maintenance

Process temperature maintenance is required when a decrease in temperature changes the physical properties of the substance in use (e.g, increase in viscosity, separation of components, decomposition, crystallisation, solidification etc.) and thus causes difficulty in the process in operation.

The electric trace heating must, therefore, only compensate for thermal losses of the product at process temperature even in the presence of a lower ambient temperature. In this case, the product which enters the pipes/tank/hopper/filter/valve already at the maintenance temperature, must also exit at this temperature.

Any losses that must be compensated for by the electric trace heating system are determined by the thermotechnic formula defined in the CEI EN 62086-2 point 6.3 standards, reported in our Planning Guide, available to download here.
